What You Need to Know About Windows 8
Windows 8 is basically Windows 7 with the "Metro" user interface added on top of the desktop to make it suitable for mobile devices.
However, these changes make Windows 8 very difficult to use on a desktop and is therefore not a recommended upgrade.
The "guts" of Windows 8 is basically unchanged from Windows 7, so any software that runs on Windows 7 (including ours) should work fine on Windows 8.
Windows 7/8 Incompatibility Warning
When installing on Windows 7 or 8, you may get a message that the software is incompatible with this version of Windows.
Ignore this message.
Viewing old style help files in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Older versions of software use a help file format that was discontinued with Windows Vista. You may need to download
a help file viewer to use older help files. You can download the viewer from this link:
Older versions may not be able to import some obsolete database
ChemStat, ChemPoint, and ChemPoint Professional
ChemPoint performance is very much dependent on the size of the
database. Minimum system requirements are 500 MHz processor, and 64 MB
RAM. For moderate to large size databases, a minimum of 1 GHz
processor, and 128 MB RAM is recommended.
All Other Programs
Other programs should provide satisfactory performance with a minimum of
500 MHz processor speed and 64 MB RAM, although they will work
satisfactorily with slower systems.
